To Witness or not to Witness? Hickman Evangelism Training – The Way of the Master

9:00 AM – 9:45 AM

Hickman Community Church stands at a crossroads. Will we obey the call to be witnesses for Christ or will we harden our hearts against the Lord’s clear command?

Most of us are scared silly when we think of sharing the gospel with someone else. We have all kinds of fears that impact our thinking and actions that cause us to keep our mouths shut. We try and rationalize our decision not to speak in order to salve our conscience – I know because I do this all the time. While 73% of Christians say they share their faith, in practice this figure shrinks to 52%. And of that 52% only a very small portion ever speak of the need to repent from sin and trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Yet the most loving thing you can do is share the gospel with an unbeliever because it is the gospel that is the power of God to salvation to all who believe.

As your Pastor, I want to encourage you to put aside your fears and come to the Equipping Hour “Evangelism Training” that begins this Sunday at 9:00am in the Family Center. This course is a safe place to grow in confidence and skill and become excited about sharing Christ with those who your meet.

Charles Spurgeon wrote of the one who shares Christ with the lost being like a “…brave fireman who cares not for the scorch of the heat, so that he may rescue the poor creature on whom true humanity has set its heart. If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”

If you do regularly share Christ then we need you at this course to encourage others who are not so bold. There is nothing like having good models we can follow. Don’t forget to order a course book if you don’t already have a copy. I can’t wait to see what God will do through the next 13 weeks as we focus on the Great Commission to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.
